The 2017 competition was launched today and follows the pattern established over recent years.
There are two changes, one significant and one for most candidates will be irrelevant. Candidates can now cite cases from the past THREE years rather than two. There is a fee reduction for candidates on lower incomes.

The Queen’s Counsel Selection Panel is inviting applications from suitably qualified advocates for appointment as Queen’s Counsel. Completed applications with payment must be received by 5pm on 30 March 2017. The cost of application this year remains at £2,160 (£1800 + VAT). There will be a further appointment fee of £3,000 (+ VAT) paid by successful applicants. Those applicants with low incomes (gross fees below £60,000) are entitled to pay concessionary fees, which are half the standard level.
